God I've got a headache this afternoon. Not sure if it's the weather or the mutlitude of bloody-stupid people asking me pointless questions. The annoying part is it's my job to answer said bloody-strupid questions...

WTF?! AJ!

The last one was supposed to go to 2000 untill we stopped it!? 3000 for the next one.

Now you stopped a thread at 1009 posts ... what's the fun in that?

:(:(

"Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?"
"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to," said the Cat.
"I don’t much care where ..." said Alice.
"Then it doesn’t matter which way you go," said the Cat.
"... so long as I get somewhere," Alice added as an explanation.
"Oh, you’re sure to do that," said the Cat, "if you only walk long enough."

Stop wasting posts complaining about the old thread, when we could be wasting posts complaining about other things.

For example, I have to provide a statement on the ability of certain mechanical structures to last 25 years instead of 22. However, I'm still an electrical engineer, and all the releant people have gone away for half term, or off to Barrow, or off revising for the courses the management sends them on. I'd like to take some time off this week to be with my daughter, but I have to provide excuses on a daily basis as to why this thing isn't going forward.

To quote Prostetnic Vogon Jeltz: "I've just had an unhappy love affair, so I don't see why anyone else should have a good time."

Message ends :P

Damn because it had just got to the subject of sex education which is something I'm currently doing a lot of as part of my job.

And I have to contradict and state that sex education in the UK is crap -
It's fine for the physical act of sex but gives no opertunity to discuss the emotional side or the complexity of relationship - as a result all it does is equip children with the knowledge how to do it but no chance to work out the "when", "with whom", and why" parts of the equation.

And thus we have a teenage pregnacy rate that is fighteningly high and a load of children being raised by children who know nothing. As a result the children arrived in school with no basic education and have to be taugh what a book and pen is before they can start doing anything more accademic - this results ina two tier system between the children who have had a good active start in life and the drongos who have been sucking thier fists for the first 3 years of thier existance - which will eventually result in an underclass who feel deprived but can't be arsed to do anything about it but riot and beat up people who are different to them and blame it thier position on any one who unlike them who does get of thier arse and learn and improve thier lot......

I could go on and on on my soap box - but my tea is ready and john will sulk if it gets cold so you should all count yourselves very very lucky!

Actually that sex quiz is just what I am talking about being wrong.
I doesn't matter how long an egg lives - becasue unless you are addicted to taking your tempreture or have a very regular cycle you wont know when it is released.
It doesn't matter how many sperm there are in an ejaculation because it only takes 1 to make you pregnant.

The quiz would be more effective if it went..

1) You go to a party and meet a girl. You get on really well. She says her name is clare and that she is 21. At the end of the party you offer to see her home because the area is a bit rough. She asks you inside for "coffee". You suggest a condom. She says you don't need one because she is on the pill.
Do you:
a) Sleep with her and hang the consequences
b) Think "If you are willing to jump into bed with me the 1st time we met how many others have you done it with and what diseases are you carrying?" and insist on the condom.
c) Stick with the coffee and call her later in the week for film and a pizza.

2) Your first "sexual encounter" with a girl you really really like is all too brief as you "go of" 2 mins after entering. The next day on the way into college a guy you never met yells "Oi Speedy" in your general direction.
Do you
a) Deck him and assume she has told every one and lock yourself in a dark room for the next 3 months.
b) Look round to see if "Speedy" heard him, becasue he can't be talking to you.
c) Chalk it up to experience and resolve to think of Norman Lamont in a tutu next time to make it last longer.

3) There is a girl you really like and finally pluck up the courage to ask her out. She says "No."
Do you:
a) Leave it a week and ask her again - may be it was just a bad time
b) Turn emo decide no one will ever love you and jump off a bridge.
c) Stalk her for the next 6 months, send her mystery flowers and gifts until she realises what she is missing and goes out with you.

4) You are a 15 years old girl. You don't get on with your mum and her new partner is horrible to you. A friend says she has a sure fire way of getting a flat of your own - get pregnant.
Do you:
a) Think you have to be joking I can't look after myself let alone a whole other life.
b) Dress to look 19 and Go down to the town center night clubs to try and find a sperm donar who is thinking with his prick.
c) Ask the guy you have been going out with for 6 months if he wants to start a family.

There are no "Right or wrong" answers on this one.
There is just living with consequences.

Thank you for making me choke on my breakfast ... *tries to remove the bread from his lungs*

Ah yes, I see what you mean. We actually do get stuff like that together with our sexual education (although not as much as it should be), it's there to start discussions mostly.

It's a stupid test, but I couldn't resist posting it together with the article. Especially since they posted it within 24 hours after your comment on sexual education in the UK. Indeed it is a rather clinical approach to sexual education (and makes the UK look foolish because all the mainland newspapers already copied the article stating that UK sexual education is horrible ... not showing how stupid the test was in the first place).

There's a thing I don't understand....
If a girl says "no", then you take it that she means "no".
But, if she says she's 18, then it's the guy that gets done over if it turns out she's 15!

Where's the justice?

I remember my Biology teacher (Mr. "Foggy Oggie") desperately trying to avoid the census on sex education.
(Good on him he managed to avoid the subject himself... He was so dry we where hitting flint together in the hope that he'd catch a spark...)

In stead one of the most liberal (and I mean liberal in the broadest term you can apply) substitute teachers to come and tell embarrasing stories about her sexlife and make us roll a condom over the leg of a chair.
Quite educative. If perhaps slightly too much for some in my class.

Where's the justice?

That happened to a friend of mine - only she was 14 in a 21s or over only club. We met her at a bus stop a few weeks later and I agreed with him that I would have put her in her mid 20s. He worked it out when she asked what 'GCSEs' levels he was doing - he was studying for a Ph.D at the time!

However There is a better one coming up.

If a girl is drunk you have to assume they even "yes" actually means "no" or they can claim that you raped them whilst they were not in a fit state of mind to to make a clear decision - this is part of a law currently going through parliment as a white paper.

However "I was drunk at the time and didn't know what I was doing" is not now, nor will it be after the bill, a legitimate excuse for a man involved in a rape acusation.

So women are expected to become stupid when they are drunk - but men are not.

Now I know man and womens brains are different but they are not THAT different and as a woman I find this kind of insulting.

When you put it like that, Madam Mum, I definitely see the insult. :P

I'm pretty sure the particular discussion I remember having on that law definition used the careful phrasing: "unable to give consent"; i.e. passed out or only really able to mumble inarticulately due to alcohol or drugs, and it technically included both sexes. But that is such a thin line... I'm not saying I've got that one figured out at all... :P

Heh heh, but from what I've heard, men are also expected to become stupid when drunk. :D But somehow they are also expected to accept decided-upon consequences for any stupid actions done while drunk...possibly because in general they cause more property damage and someone wants restitution.

Soooo.....in a way, that brings me back to an old argument with some other women of my college years: they want equality, but they don't want the same treatment, they want better. *sigh* "Equality" and "special treatment" are not the same thing....but they didn't seem to see that.

I kind of like the "special treatment" sometimes; having a trusted male that treats me well protect me from other males is a better way to survive than to insist on doing it all myself for pride's sake....especially since the physical is definitely not equal. :P I've been bested at wrestling far too many times to believe that... Therefore the "special treatment" also has its dark side...
But I'd also accept the same civil punishments men receive if it was widely accepted that women have the same mental stability and capacity as men, because I'm an adult and can only expect of myself to understand and endure the consequences of my actions. It's only that I've just been treated like I was mentally and emotionally fragile enough to figure it is not widely accepted yet where I live...and sometimes I take advantage of that. :P I'd work with either system; equality or special treatment...whatever works...

Which is why the Idealogists hate me. :P

Wracked with your charm/I am circled like prey
Back in the forest/Where whispers persuade
More sugar trails/More white lady laid

Well I'm under-educated in the sex education area. I'll let you decide what that means. You'll more than likely get the answers right.

As for 'equality'. Well. Being male I am insulted at the fact that no matter what, I may be exaggerating here, men are responsible when it comes to drink and sex. It reminds me of all the rape support groups for women. What about men? Men can be raped, it's just damn rare.

And I best shut up as I really have almost no knowledge of the subject.
