Settings
I've been doing college (social science)
Anyways.
Here some settings I came up these while staring out of windows. I thought I'd jot them down here so someone might get some use out of them.

Setting One
Hard Sci Fi - Near Future - Mars
It's the year 23XX manking has advanced at a more realistic pace than in most sci fi. The world has slowly begun to recover from a ecological disaster
and the resulting "shortage" wars. As a result the unnamed world government set its site on space exploitation, exploration was not a factor. The
biggest project is the terraformation of Mars. A monumental project undertaken by three megacorporations:
1-LunOx - A provider of water and air to the space industry, it has a virtual monopoly on life support syetem manifacture and is arguably the most
powerful corporation in the Solar System. No LunOx...No Life. Based on the Moon.
2-BioComm - Biotechnology was the big thing at the end of the 21st century but it went horribly wrong. (How it went wrong is up to you). Without
engineered life, terraforming mars would not be possible. Based On Earth
3-Core Dynamics - Core Dynamics is Conglomerate of several hundred other smaller corporations, it has a stake in mars because in the early 22nd
century they manages to fusion bomb mars planarty core back into activity allowing the small body temporary van allen belt (should last about 30000
years). Based in Venus Orbital Research.
Why is this a roleplay setting?
The three megacorps are fighting for control of Mars. Space is a frontier with lots of dodgy things go on, read: lawless. Earth has a stable liberal
authoritarian - jenny government style -government but out on Mars its the Corporations and crime that hold the power. Martian cities are essentially
modular shanty towns built up around atmosphere processors. Players could be free agents working between the corps, or colonists/pioneers.
Developments:
1) The corps begin to construct the first deep space colony ark bound for Epsilon Eridani, after an Earth like world was found in early 23XX.
2) First Contact?
3) Alien Ruins?
4) The Sun begins to fail.
5) Earth is lost/destroyed.

Setting Two
Low Fantasy - Fantasy World
Essentially this is a fantasy world based on 1960s Earth. A human empire (like lorderon from *that game*) sends troops overseas to aid put down a
rebellion of Wood Fay (seelie) against thier High Fay (seelie) rulers. The Elven kingdoms are in revolution as they start to become what is
essentially socialist. Its the vietnam war, the asians are the elves, the americans are the humans, instead of grubby asian towns the citys are magic
magestic places scarred by civil war.
I really would have loved to develop this idea, and have a group of people to play it with.
So the players could be soldiers, or human adventurers givn access to otherwise closed Fay Lands.
I must stress though I wanted this setting to be a departure from the usualy Elfs, Dwarfs, Humans bollocks. The Elves are Fay folk, more like the
races of the world of darkness games than tolkien rip offs. I recommend books on celtic mythology to flesh this out.

*sigh*
Oh yeah and only elves have magic, there are a few human wizards but they are rare. About as rare as nuclear scientists in the 1960s and they
certainly don't hang out in jungle ruins for laughs, they are too busy binding Alien Gods from the Scarlet Sphere to artfacts incase the other human
alliance attacks(russia), the whole world was a mess after that war with the Necromancer(hitler) and his miltarist fanatics tried to take over. You
get the idea.

Windows are good for ideas, but not as good as Windows(tm) for me. I seem to get most of my inspiration from staring at the computer screen at
work.
Nice ideas. The fantasy one sounds like a more fantasy version of the Panzerfauste world.
